The "Pied Piper of Smooth Jazz" is a staple on Quiet Storm and Smooth Jazz radio and there's little wonder why. With over 13 #1 hits and over 20 Top 10 Hits, Kim Waters has a flair for what The Washington Post calls "composing seductive melodies. He is like a romantic pied piper out on a long evening stroll." Whether he's working with Isaac Hayes, Al Green, or composing music for an Oscar-award winning film, Kim says "It is always my hope that my music will be a vehicle to touch and inspire people in some kind of way." While he is best known as a saxophonist, on his critically acclaimed album, "This Heart of Mine," Kim also played the drums, guitar, bass, keyboard and provided vocals as well.
The Maryland native got his first start in music at the age of eight on the violin and later switched to the saxophone at age 13.
Always looking to evolve, his most recent release, This Heart of Mine (Oct. 2011), includes a cover of Jay-Z and Alicia Keys's chart-topping Empire State of Mind, and a duet with Grammy-award winning soul singer Calvin Richardson. Kim has been a staunch supporter of The MusicianShip and has performed for our students and supporters.
