Events | FROM THE CLASSROOM TO THE STAGE
On Thursday, June 8th, at 6 PM, cheer on The MusicianShip students who've spent after-school hours learning an instrument, making beats, or operating behind the scenes of a music production! Meet the teaching artists and staff making a difference in the lives of young people in the district. Parents and guardians, from 7-8 PM, stop by for a brief reception! Register today! News | GO-GO AT ACHIEVEMENT PREP
Thanks to teaching artists Jared Bailey (@mkzulumusic) and Deacon Izzy (@deaconizzy), youth from TMS partner schools have had the chance to learn about the different music influences of Go-Go to keep the beat going in the district! Recently at Achievement Prep, duo 1STOP shared their own Go-Go version of their school song, singing and dancing along with 3rd and 4th graders. Check out the video recap below! At DC Public Schools' annual performing arts festival, Randle Highlands elementary and after-school music students came together for two performances! A recorder performance instructed by Mrs. Keeta Jones, followed by a special band performance conducted by Mr. Jared Bailey, wowed audiences at the Kennedy Center! Props to our 3rd-grade BAND apprentices—a distinguishable feat since most youth don't have the opportunity to join the band until middle school! Free Music Programming includes Music Production, Music Therapy, General Music, Vocal Music, Marching Band, Dance, Instrumental Music, and more! Summer Programs culminate in student-run productions (Summer showcase & Dianne’s Recital), which include certificates, scholarship awards, and more!
