NBCU Awards The MusicianShip a $50,000 Grant

We’re elated to share that NBCU Foundation has awarded The MusicianShip a $50,000 Project Innovation Grant to support our youth programming. This generous gift will allow us to fulfill our mission of changing lives with music by helping an additional 420 students have an opportunity to participate in our workplace development program.

“We are excited to strengthen the relationship between our community engagement programs and youth development programs by giving our students the opportunity to get hands-on experience in the music industry as high school students. What better music internship is there than experience with an event like the DC Funk Parade or the Washington Area Music Awards?" said Jeffery Tribble, The MusicianShip’s Executive Director.

Through our holistic program, students learn skills such as decision-making, work ethic, professional assimilation, and technical skills such as learning assigned music, creating a music label, developing fundraising plans, and learning to record. With support from NBC, we will be able to add staff support, youth instruments, student evaluation tools, program supplies, and technology to better undergird our work into the future.
