Our Ongoing Commitment to Racial Equity and Inclusion

The MusicianShip has been dedicated to the cause of racial equity and inclusion since our founding more than 11 years ago.

Through our free-of-charge music education initiatives, our mission is to provide learning and enrichment opportunities for youth, 99% of whom are young people of color who might not otherwise have access to quality programs.

Over the last eight months, we have taken additional steps to make racial equity and inclusion more intentionally integrated into our internal and external initiatives. In an effort to celebrate and uplift pivotal moments in U.S. Black history, we have made holidays, like Juneteenth and Emancipation Day, official off days for our staff and contractors. This Fall, we also hosted a four-part racial equity brown bag series, led by a member of The MusicianShip’s Board, Temi F. Bennett.What’s next?

On February 2-4, our Executive Director, Jeffery Tribble, Jr., is speaking at The Equity Summit, addressing the topic of The Rise of Small Businesses in Communities of Color. “I’m honored to be among the many speakers at this important event and to be able to share my experience in creating and leading a nonprofit.

My hope is that it will inspire others, particularly people of color, to start their own businesses so that our economies become more equitable and reflective of our society as a whole,” said Jeffery.

As part of our justice-centered continuing education efforts, The MusicianShip’s staff will be receiving free registration to the event, courtesy of the organization.
