Juliana Laing is a governance professional with wide-ranging experience in a variety of sectors including, professional associations, higher ed, biomedical research, non-profit community organizations, co-operatives, and philanthropy. Juliana joined The Musicianship Board following a move to DC from Boston, where she worked with the Board of Directors and led enterprise-wide projects at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard. While a native of Cape Cod, Juliana has lived and worked primarily in Vancouver, Canada. It was in her early career there, that she found her passion for building organizational capacity through excellence in board governance.Juliana has advised non-profit boards as an independent consultant and as a volunteer. She is currently back in beautiful British Columbia where she leads strategic projects as part of the legal and governance team at MEC Mountain Equipment Company, a retailer whose mission is to inspire and enable everyone to lead active outdoor lifestyles.Juliana is a graduate of the University of British Columbia’s Faculty of Arts and holds an executive certificate in Strategic Leadership from UBC’s Sauder School of Business. She believes in the transformative power of music and mentorship, is grateful for the music education she received as a young person, and hopes to make a difference in the lives of others through her work with The MusicianShip.
